Francis Morton-Jones Stag Do, Finished Exams

This shot is evidence of carnage caused on Francis's stag do. Paintballing, and i got shot 14 other times. Video evidence from the ensuing debauchery caused later in town, with luck will never be seen again.

Finished the last of my years exams last Saturday. I'm pretty pleaseed with how they went, should here back in a couple of weeks. Augusto rang me at 1am the night before population health, wishing me luck. All i remember was some pissed ramblings of a Queenslander talking about steaks storms and walking around in underwear.

Cleavedale Winter 2009

Organic farming methods include many natural methods such as biodynamics, homeopathy, herbal remedies, poultry manure soil enrichment. Organic farmers do not use chemical pesticides and herbicides, and synthetic fertilisers. Organic terminology is loosely based around phrases such as 'getting the soil biology working, cosmic, working with the meridian lines etc.
Farming using these methods is very labour intensive however I believe ultimately more rewarding than conventional farming working in greater synchronisation with nature.

Another good Waikato frost.

Raglan Mission 2

View from Whale Bay of a small and messy lineup. Still 2 ft sets.

Raglan Mission

Ruapuke, West Coast. Nice 4 ft day with some seriously gnarly 6 ft sets coming through, the rawness of the west coast reminded me of Allens in Dunedin. Good waves were few and far between but caught a few screamers. Made me feel alive

Fits Of Nostalgia Selwyn 05

Thursday, September 25, 2008

the obligatory photo of socialist writings. Nostalgia pertaining to days of a radical youth

Rio is a pretty heavy city. Random police searches armed with automatic weapons.

The first view of Cristo Redentor, Christ the Redeemer, a life-long dream.

The last photo before Maria Odete gave me a chop. A type of Samson and Delilah dedication.

Estou pensando.

Riot Aftermath

Was on Castle Street on the night but left when things started getting to crazy. Was a good idea and wouldn't have wanted to be implicated. Frustrating for the University as well. A lot of hardwork over many years by many hundreds of scholars building a solid reputation for the uni soiled by a bunch of freshers, big man second years who think they rule the place and some out of towners who can't handle a drink, sad.

Riots on Castle Street

Pretty embarrassing really. Not a thing to be proud of.

Karitane River mouth

Hit karitane today with Gusto. Been there five times previously and was the first time i'd seen it anywhere near good. F@#king freezing to me somehow doesn't do it justice. Dunedin surfers have a loose connection upstairs managing incoming sensory input. Surfed like a cockroach, didn't do my "rest" period justice gifted a couple of bombs to Gus, (Just as well as he was on the inside...) Ready for round 2. Must mention I caught a solid left. Quality

On the CYPs/Sips

Finished exams on tuesday with toxicology. Yesterday was spent hungover and in bed. An expected outcome? probably. But the result of 5 or 6 weeks without drinking a beer I believe resulted in a downregulation of the CYP2E1 and Alcohol dehydrogenase enzymes in my liver hepatocytes. The result being a large accumulation of aldehydes and the symptoms of tachycardia, NVD (nausea vomitting and diarhoea) facial flushing and headache. Alcohol is an extensive CYP2E1 inducer, the combination of a big night and a CYP3A inducer like ketoconazole (antifungal) and widely used headache cure like paracetamol is likely to cause a huge increase in flux of paracetamol in the to the harmful metabolite NAPQI, this accumulation is likely to saturate the only safe detoxification pathway (GSH/GST), bind to nucleic acids of hepatocyte DNA and cause cell necrosis. fortunately i didn't take any paracetamol, was left with a headache and now deal with the consequences of fatty liver, a temporary fat accumulation in hepatocytes which rarely results in cell death.

.....

Thought about the lack of activity and probably therefore relevance of this site. Some might say it's shit and at times they were probably right. But then again creativity is often a difficult emotion to express when your spirit is stuck in a lifestyle of stagnation. Spending the past 8 weeks studying for exams which as it happens are next week tends to put things a little in perspective. Is it actually really worth it. I mean working this hard for something your not totally sure you actually want. Just giving yourself another option..... Well you'd be stupid not to question the validity of the exercise, wouldn't you?
